A
long-time veteran of the Chicagoland comedy scene, stand-up comic Karl
Newyear is now narrowing his focus and concentrating on the humor of his
lifetime as a Lutheran. His comedy act contains stories and observations
on many things religious in general, and his home congregation of St.
Paul’s in particular. Everyone will enjoy Karl’s stories and
observations. His act doesn’t testify or preach but his view of modern
Christianity, and an average guy’s place in it, will leave you laughing.
Karl will entertain you, whether you are a fellow Lutheran, or you
haven’t seen the inside of a church for a while.
Trained at Second City and Dobie Maxwell's Comedy Training, Karl has
played most of the major comedy venues in the Chicagoland area and was a
finalist in WGN-TV's 2003 Funniest Person in Chicago contest. He holds
the distinction of once having made Garrison Keillor laugh.
